Malawi’s tech hubs are sparking innovation among the youth. The $72.4 million Digital Malawi Program has supported 10 tech hubs nationwide, training over 19,000 young people in digital skills, ICT literacy, and entrepreneurship. These hubs, spread from Lilongwe to Blantyre, offer coding bootcamps and startup incubators, with over 50% of trainees being female. Success stories include young coders landing internships at local firms. These hubs are vital in a country where youth unemployment is high, but scaling them requires consistent funding and better internet access. Malawi’s tech hubs are proof that investing in youth can drive digital transformation.
